SSI recipients
People who receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI) may qualify for CalFresh. Getting CalFresh does not change your SSI payment. You can apply on your own or as part of your household, depending on who you buy and make food with.
Ready to apply?
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Basic household information
- Income information for anyone in your home
- Your SSI award letter (this is helpful but not required)
- Who may qualify
You may qualify for CalFresh if you:
- Receive SSI
- Live alone or with others you buy and prepare food with
- Live in a household where some people receive SSI and others have income
- Get SSI and have other Social Security Income (such as SSDI or Social Security retirement)
- Important to know
- Getting CalFresh does not reduce your SSI amount
- You may qualify even if you work part time
- If you live with people who get CalFresh and share food with them, you may be added to their household
